Is ATT Cheating iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G Customers Looking to Buy iPhone 3GS?

Contract this, contract that, who's gonna make AT T fat? Me and you, that's who!

Okay, so I upgraded my iPhone 2G with an iPhone 3G the end of last year. Now, I was able to get a decent price and in return, sign up for a new 2-year contract with AT T. Well, as you already know, the new iPhone 3GS is available for pre-order and will ready at local stores on June 19th. So, silly me, I try to pre-order one online and AT T gives me this BS about me having to pay $399 for a 16gb iPhone 3GS. Whoa, wait a minute, I wanted the $199 price.

Well, if you have not already heard, if you have not fulfilled most, if not all of, your 2-year contract with your current iPhone then you will not get the subsidized price for the new iPhone 3GS. It is getting pretty had out there with Twitter petitions being signed by well over 13,000 people (http://twitition.com/f96aq) as of today, AT T customer service phone lines tied up and even people getting ready to move their ATT number to a new carrier. And folks, the new iPhone 3GS is not even out yet!

I may be happy to settle for my free iPhone 3.0 software update for my current iPhone 3G but on the other hand, I want my new iPhone 3GS darn-it! Well, off I go to sign the Twitter petition and give AT T another piece of my mind over the phone for another hour-and-a-half. My boss is going to be pissed but guess what, he has the same issue and does not want to fork over the extra $200 just because! HA HA!

I will report back to you by Friday to let you know what happens!

HAPPY iPhone 3GS day Friday to you all! Good luck!

Static Shock Warning From Apple for iPhones and iPods

Apple warns of static shock from iPhone, iPod

Excerpt from news.cnet.com (http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-10245065-37.html?part=rss subj=news tag=2547-1_3-0-5)

iPhone and iPod users may experience a small and quick shock via their earbuds due to a buildup of static electricity, Apple warned Monday.

People listening to one of the devices in extremely dry air are most at risk of receiving a static electricity shock through the ear buds, according to a warning posted on Apple's Web site. The post likened the condition to the discharge that occurs when a person drags his or her feet across a carpet then gets a shock by touching a door knob.

However, Apple asserted that this condition did not necessarily indicate that Apple's equipment was malfunctioning.

This condition is not limited to Apple hardware and static can potentially build up on almost any hardware and could be discharged using any brand of earbuds, Apple said.

Apple's warning didn't mention what prompted the company to issue the warning, but a discussion thread on the company's support site showed a few users had voiced concern about the condition.

Maybe it's just me but for a couple of weeks now my earphones are delivering little electric shocks into my ears, wrote one reader. I just wonder if anyone else is going through this issue.

iPhone App: MouthOff - Lots of Yelling Fun

Our good friend Bwana McCall, from bwana.org (http://www.bwana.org/) and his newest site bwanarama.com (http://bwanarama.com), has posted yet another awesome video review of an iPhone Application. This time it is an App called MouthOff. MouthOff is available on the iTunes App Store for $.99. This app basically lets you have some good ol fun mouthing-off to others with a faux mouth on the screen of the iPhone. It has several mouth selections and it goes along with your speech/voice as you talk. Pretty awesome app!

For a buck you can have a blast just like Bwana did in the video below!

Enjoy!

If you have been wondering where Microsoft has been for supporting the iPhone then your wait is over. Quickoffice is a new app that for $20 gives you the ability to work with MS Office documents. Quickoffice has been around for many years and is the default office suite found on the infamous Nokia S60 devices. With the upcoming iPhone 3.0 firmware we are sure to see many more apps like this that will have a new update opening up other functions such as copy/paste within the application.

The makers of Quickoffice have clients for Palm, Android and Blackberry devices also.

WWDC 2009 Details and WWDC ’09 Predictions

I know what you are thinking. A new iPhone introduced, a new iPod touch, a Mac Netbook introduced and so on! Well, maybe just a portion of that will happen come June 8th through June 12 when WWDC '09 kicks off at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA.

ATT has already said that they were excited about a new iPhone which should come out at about the same time the new iPhone 3.0 firmware drops in June. Others have speculated over and over about rumors of a new Mac Netbook because other netbooks are just kicking ass when it comes to getting a portable computer while saving enough money to pay your mortgage this month. Yes we are in a recession but does Apple really give a darn? Maybe, Come the week of June 8th we will really know as the last introduction of a new product was something that was reportedly the thinnest but one of the most expensive laptops around. We can't have that Apple!

The registration for WWDC 2009 is open with a discount of $300 off the price which brings it to $1,295. If you wait until April 25 the price will go up to around $1,595. Visit the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference 2009 website here (http://developer.apple.com/wwdc/) and get all the updated details and updates as they happen or you can just come back to ipod-addicts.com (http://www.ipod-addicts.com).

Okay, so you have already heard about the new iPhone 3.0 firmware. Have you seen any video highlights of the new functions and features of iPhone 3.0 firmware? Well, if not then here is your chance. Zdnet just posted today a new Sneak Peak at iPhone 3.0. Below is the video for your enjoyment.

All I know is I can’t wait until June when the iPhone 3.0 is suppose to hit iTunes. Also in June is rumored for a new iPhone… yes, an even newer iPhone than that of the iPhone 3G offered exclusively from ATT at first. Look for more updates here on ipod-addicts.com as it happens!

Apple iPhone 3.0 - iPhone 3.0 Software/Firmware Update Details Released by Apple

June 17, 2009 Update!!! When will 3.0 be available? Just got confirmaiton that it will be available at 1pm EST. or 10am PT June 17, 2009!!!!

Apple has released exclusive details on the new iPhone 3.0 Firmware/Software update. This is probably one of the most hyped up iPhone updates ever because it includes many of the features that iPhone users and those pre-iPhone-converts have been waiting for ... for a long time now. It has been a long time coming and now a Change is going to come. And no I am not talking about President Obama this time... I am talking about the Apple iPhone people! Version 3.0 or iPhone 3.0 will offer the following:

	Search your iPhone

	Cut, copy, and paste

Send photos, contacts, audio files, and location via MMS*

Read and compose email and text messages in landscape

And a whole bunch more cool stuff such as turn-by-turn GPS navigation directions via an App.

Man, I cannot wait for this. The SDK / Development Kit is already available to developers. Man, I wish I had more time to do more developing. Maybe I will just to try out iPhone 3.0.

FlightTrack Pro iPhone App: Up-To-Date Flight Info On Your iPhone

This is a pretty neat iPhone App for those of you who are on-the-go usually catching flights and want to stay up to date on the status of your flight. Great tool during these uncertain economic conditions when you want to be sure you are ON TIME to catch your flight or if you have enough time to surf the net to buy that one last stock.

With FlightTrack Pro, travelers simply forward airline confirmation emails to plans@tripit.com (mailto:plans@tripit.com), and their flight itineraries are automatically synchronized to their iPhone and iPod touch, where their flights can easily be tracked in FlightTrack Pro. It's a completely automated process that adds real value to a traveler's life on the road.

FlightTrack Pro is in partnership with TripIt (http://www.tripit.com/ (http://www.tripit.com/)).

Available on it iTunes App store! - More Info here! (http://www.approposmobile.com/flighttrackpro)

Time Lapse Photography App for iPhone

iPhone TimeLapse Test (http://vimeo.com/2932665) from digitalurban (http://vimeo.com/user584207) on Vimeo (http://vimeo.com).

Ever dreamed of doing some trick photography on your iPhone? How about doing some time-lapse photos? Now you can with the iPhone App TimeLapse. This new iPhone App allows you to take photos at pre-set intervals. Very nifty if you ask me. Something I may have to try out for kicks and giggles for only 99 cent.

Short except from tuaw.com below...

Here's a fun application. TimeLapse [App Store link (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=301050966 mt=8)] uses your iPhone's camera to take photos at regular intervals. You can have one photo snapped as infrequently as every 24 hours, or as often as every 10 seconds, which is about as fast as it can snap and store a photo. After you've collected all of your photos (I told it to stop after 300), you can easily dump them into iMovie or QuickTime Pro and make a simple time lapse movie. Neat!

You can set a delay before it takes a shot, which means you can also use TimeLapse as a timer to allow the photographer to get in the frame. Additionally, it could work as a rudimentary surveillance camera. While it's running, a display lists when it started, the time of the last picture taken and the approximate time of when it will stop.

We received a tip on some new applications for the iPhone to get you in shape for the new year.

Pumpone.com is a developer and supplier of the new iPhone applications where some act as a personal trainer for you. A real personal trainer is usually expensive so why not use your iPod or iPhone to help get you in shape. It is probably your new years resolution to get fit and you may have joined a gym already. What better way to jump-start your workouts by having your own trainer on your iPod or iPhone? We thought this was pretty neat to share with you.

AT&T May Allow iPhone Tethering for $30

Many of you who purchased an iPhone 3G are really ready to use it as a tethering device so that you may have full highspeed 3G internet access on-the-go with your laptop. It really sucks that you have to purchase a separate device for about $60 a month to use your laptop anywhere there is 3G service. Wouldn't it be so much easier to just use your iPhone 3G to tether which you already pay a premium for each month? AT T is in the talking process for allowing the tethering to happen.

Of course you can probably do this already if you have a jailbroken iPhone but you may run into issues if AT T detects that you are using your iPhone data for internet on a laptop (high-data-rates). The only pitfall to this idea is the fact that AT T says they will change an additional $30 on top of your current iPhone plan in order to tether. Darn, just when you thought it would be awesome to NOT PAY ANYTHING ADDITIONAL to tether your all-so-fast iPhone 3G.

More info to come as it happens.

iPod Goes From 0 to 154 Yards In 5 Seconds

The champion javelin thrower Roald Bradstock, throws an iPod for a stunning 154 yards in this YouTube video that we found posted on TUAW. Sure you may have seen iPod-in-a-blender or iPod-drop-test videos online but what about someone taking an iPod and launching it the distance of a full football field and-a-half?

Maybe the one of the losing football teams such as the Browns could use someone like this. Although, he wouldn't be throwing an iPod unless it is covered with a pigskin iPod case. And yes, you can buy one of those skins for your iPod.

By now everyone knows that we are iPhone biased we have a couple stories that we wanted to bring to your attention about the BlackBerry Storm. It seems it is becoming a big let-down for a lot of BlackBerry users who opted to upgrade to the Storm. After some researchers have spent time with the new Storm it seems it was properly named to the point that it is precisely a Storm ... like the editor in the second article will say at the end, a Storm is usually something it's dark, sodden and unpredictable!
Rock Out With Your iPhone: Guitar Rock Tour for iPhone

The guys at tuaw.com posted a first look at the new Guitar Rock Tour for iPhone. With all of the hype of Rockband 2 and the newest Guitar Hero for the Xbox, PS3 and Wii, it is only accustomed for someone else to come out with a spiced up rockin game for the iPhone right? This game is a hell-of-a-lot cheaper than rockband 2 or Guitar Hero World Tour… only $7.99 from the iTunes App Store! Why not take the excitement with you wherever you take your iPhone… which is probably pretty much everywhere including the bathroom. Below is an excerpt from tuaw.com for when they took a first look at Guitar Rock Tour for iPhone. Enjoy! Link to story: First Look: Guitar Rock Tour for iPhone (http://www.tuaw.com/2008/11/24/first-look-guitar-rock-tour-for-iphone/)Do you like to rock out with Guitar Hero or Rock Band? If you do, then you'll no doubt like Guitar Rock Tour [iTunes link] for the iPhone. The Guitar Rock Tour experience is similar to that of Guitar Hero, but portable. Unlike Tap Tap Revenge, Guitar Rock Tour gives you 17 licensed songs, including Rock You Like a Hurricane, Beat It, Smoke on the Water, and more. The nice thing about this game is that you can play either the lead guitar or the drums. There are three difficulty levels for Guitar Rock Tour: Easy, Medium, and Hard. In addition, there is a quick play mode and tour mode. In quick play, you can play any song that you want, using any difficultly level -- assuming you've unlocked the songs. In tour mode, you go around to different cities playing songs, earning points, and unlocking more songs. When you start the tour mode, you actually sign a contract for the band -- I thought this part was cool. The game play is identical to that of Guitar Hero or RockBand. You simply tap the notes that appear on the screen to make the music play. If you miss a note, then you lose points; if you get a note right, you gain points. Overall, Guitar Rock Tour is a lot of fun and has great graphics -- I was surprised at how good and fluid the animations were. I experienced a lot of crashes, though this seemed to have been fixed with a reboot of the iPhone. I also found that sometimes the notes were not timed exactly right. This can be distracting, especially when you just want to play the song. If you are interested in Guitar Rock Tour, it is available from the App Store for $7.99 (US).

Are you a gamer? - What about an iPhone gamer?

With games like Labyrinth, something as simple as moving through a maze, you’re offered hours of fun and even creative opportunity allowing you to create your own map for less than $10. There are also the well known favorites like Tetris and Ms. Pac-Man. And when you want to challenge a friend, there’s the old favorite, Scrabble. Offering touch screen, game design and playability the iPhone still has growth potential despite some control problems for some of the games, like Ms. Pac-Man or Super Monkey Ball. Maybe one of these days one of the developers will grab a few ideas from the Wii or DS that will open the window to take advantage of the iPhones full potential. With the iPhone offering cool features and a few good games, it’s not your normal cell phone and could really become the latest source for handheld gaming. iPod Touch 'Featured Games' montage (http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/21381)How do you rate the games currently available for the iPhone? Do you think it’s a good way to play some of the old favorites or do you think it’s just hype?

T-Mobile G1 Google Android Phone vs. Apple iPhone 3G

Battle of the bulge or functionality? T-Mobile G1 Google Android Phone vs. Apple iPhone 3G – You be the judge! In the race, or battle, for someone to compete against the iPhone, T-Mobile has released the HTC G1 aka Google Android, aka T-Mobile G1 phone powered by Google’s operating system. The new T-Mobile G1 had several expectations of being “open” and allowing users to do a lot more than you could with say, an iPhone. From a few techie sources online it seems the T-Mobile G1 was not expected to be a phone to change or revolutionize the cell phone world like the iPhone did, just a device to bring the internet to the cell phone user with a few extra features. No doubt that the new T-Mobile G1 improves the web experience for mobile users when compared to other mobile Windows or blackberry devices. Now does it overshadow the Apple iPhone? Not really but it is an expected contender that can hold its own especially when it is coupled with a physical keyboard, something the iPhone seriously lacks.

Apple Sells 3 Million iPhone 3G’s in First Month

Whoa! They sold how many? Okay, we are back to posting news, updates and cool stuff on ipod-addicts.com! Sorry that we have been gone for a while but we are back to keep you POSTED!Apple reported recently that they sold 3 million iPhone 3G units during the first month. And folks, that is in lieu of all the “issues” that they had with the release including software glitches, activation issues and long lines where they had to tell people “yall come back now ya hear”. Who the hell else can sell that many cell phones in one month on top of having hiccups? You tell me! Only Apple can pull it off. I am not sure if AT T helped much but hot damn, they pulled this one out of their asses! So what’s next for the iPhone 3G? more record sells? How about some better software Apple! Mobile ME should be demolished and they just start over and build a new platform for those services. I look for more stable software updates such as the recent 2.01 firmware that was just released last week. A side note, some Apple store and AT T stores continue to be sold-out of the new iPhone 3G, so I wonder how many would they have sold if Apple met the demand??? HMMM???? It is no question or doubt that this is one of the hottest electro-gadgets on the market today. It has spawned all other cell companies to follow suit and release there comparable cell phone up to the iPhone 3G. All I have to say, they aint no iPhone… close but this all fall short. Don’t get me wrong, the iPhone 3G can use a lot of polishing and more features, but once again, they sold 3 million of those bad boys in one month, top that!

iPhone Frenzy Day iPhone 3G and iPhone 2.0 Firmware Release Date

Today is iPhone frenzy day. Every techie related site I have visited today has something related to the new iPhone 3G or the new iPhone 2.0 firmware. Of course you cannot forget about the new apps on iTunes new app store for your iPhone or iPod touch. All I can say is WOW! I am really out-done here. I am in process of updating my current iPhone with the iPhone 2.0 Firmware to allow me to install the apps that I have downloaded from the new apps store this morning. I really can’t wait until the update is done! Today will go down in history. Apple may be posting more record sales for the new iPhone. So whats so big and important about this release of the iPhone? Well let me tell you a few things. First, the new 2.0 firmware will allow ALL current iPhone users to install applications further expanding the capabilities of the iPhone. Next, New owners of the iPhone 3G will be able to utilize the faster 3G network on an iPhone. Coupled with the new software, new improvements have been made to blow the competition away such as push email. Wouldn’t you like to tote around an iPhone instead of your crackberry at the office. Yes, talk to your network admin and get the push mail working. You are sure to attract the GIRLS or guys, whatever your preference is. I can go on and on and on about how revolutionary the iPhone was, is and will be in the near future. This is one of, if not THE, hottest gadget on the market today!!! I gotta go update my iPhone now. Chat with you later on another post about how I can hum a tune into my iPhone and it recognized the exact song that I am humming or singing. WOOT WOOT!

What Do You Do With Your Old First Generation iPhone After Buying A New iPhone 3G?

What Do You Do With Your Old First Generation iPhone After Buying A New iPhone 3G? If you are like me, you currently have a first generation iPhone and plan on purchasing the new iPhone 3G July 11th but you are wondering what in the world do you do with your old iPhone. Don’t worry, you are not alone. I have been pondering the same thing. The $199 or $299 dollar question is what do you do with your old first generation iPhone? I have listed a few options that many of you may consider. Provided that you have already read How To Replace Your Original iPhone With The New iPhone 3G (iphone/how-to-replace-your-original-iphone-with-the-new-iphone-3g.html)you can read below.AT T has confirmed that owners of first generation iPhones that have upgraded to the new iPhone 3G will be able to deactivate their original iPhone and use it as basically an iPod touch. You will still be able to access all features (except make phone calls, duh!) and even the iTunes store via Wi-Fi. If you want to hand your old iPhone down to a family member or use it as another cell phone that can be done also. You can reactivate your original iPhone to utilize another cellular phone number (see your AT T rep.) with no problem. Other options may include unlocking the iPhone 1.0 and keep it for international use. You can pop in a sim card from other services from around the world and the iPhone should work just fine as an international cell phone. You can keep the iPhone 1.0 in reserve just in case the new iPhone 3G is lost, or broken. You know how those glass screens can get damaged… You may want to BUY A CASE for it!
