Apple Sells 3 Million iPhone 3G’s in First Month

Whoa! They sold how many? Okay, we are back to posting news, updates and cool stuff on ipod-addicts.com! Sorry that we have been gone for a while but we are back to keep you POSTED!Apple reported recently that they sold 3 million iPhone 3G units during the first month. And folks, that is in lieu of all the “issues” that they had with the release including software glitches, activation issues and long lines where they had to tell people “yall come back now ya hear”. Who the hell else can sell that many cell phones in one month on top of having hiccups? You tell me! Only Apple can pull it off. I am not sure if AT T helped much but hot damn, they pulled this one out of their asses! So what’s next for the iPhone 3G? more record sells? How about some better software Apple! Mobile ME should be demolished and they just start over and build a new platform for those services. I look for more stable software updates such as the recent 2.01 firmware that was just released last week. A side note, some Apple store and AT T stores continue to be sold-out of the new iPhone 3G, so I wonder how many would they have sold if Apple met the demand??? HMMM???? It is no question or doubt that this is one of the hottest electro-gadgets on the market today. It has spawned all other cell companies to follow suit and release there comparable cell phone up to the iPhone 3G. All I have to say, they aint no iPhone… close but this all fall short. Don’t get me wrong, the iPhone 3G can use a lot of polishing and more features, but once again, they sold 3 million of those bad boys in one month, top that!

Of course you cannot forget about the new apps on iTunes new app store for your iPhone or iPod touch. All I can say is WOW! I am really out-done here. I am in process of updating my current iPhone with the iPhone 2.0 Firmware to allow me to install the apps that I have downloaded from the new apps store this morning. I really can’t wait until the update is done! Today will go down in history. Apple may be posting more record sales for the new iPhone. So whats so big and important about this release of the iPhone? Well let me tell you a few things. First, the new 2.0 firmware will allow ALL current iPhone users to install applications further expanding the capabilities of the iPhone. Next, New owners of the iPhone 3G will be able to utilize the faster 3G network on an iPhone. Coupled with the new software, new improvements have been made to blow the competition away such as push email. Wouldn’t you like to tote around an iPhone instead of your crackberry at the office. Yes, talk to your network admin and get the push mail working. You are sure to attract the GIRLS or guys, whatever your preference is. I can go on and on and on about how revolutionary the iPhone was, is and will be in the near future. This is one of, if not THE, hottest gadget on the market today!!! I gotta go update my iPhone now. Chat with you later on another post about how I can hum a tune into my iPhone and it recognized the exact song that I am humming or singing. WOOT WOOT!

What Do You Do With Your Old First Generation iPhone After Buying A New iPhone 3G?

What Do You Do With Your Old First Generation iPhone After Buying A New iPhone 3G? If you are like me, you currently have a first generation iPhone and plan on purchasing the new iPhone 3G July 11th but you are wondering what in the world do you do with your old iPhone. Don’t worry, you are not alone. I have been pondering the same thing. The $199 or $299 dollar question is what do you do with your old first generation iPhone? I have listed a few options that many of you may consider. Provided that you have already read How To Replace Your Original iPhone With The New iPhone 3G (iphone/how-to-replace-your-original-iphone-with-the-new-iphone-3g.html)you can read below.AT T has confirmed that owners of first generation iPhones that have upgraded to the new iPhone 3G will be able to deactivate their original iPhone and use it as basically an iPod touch. You will still be able to access all features (except make phone calls, duh!) and even the iTunes store via Wi-Fi. If you want to hand your old iPhone down to a family member or use it as another cell phone that can be done also. You can reactivate your original iPhone to utilize another cellular phone number (see your AT T rep.) with no problem. Other options may include unlocking the iPhone 1.0 and keep it for international use. You can pop in a sim card from other services from around the world and the iPhone should work just fine as an international cell phone. You can keep the iPhone 1.0 in reserve just in case the new iPhone 3G is lost, or broken. You know how those glass screens can get damaged… You may want to BUY A CASE for it!
How To Replace Your Original iPhone With The New iPhone 3G

How To Replace Your Original iPhone With The New iPhone 3G Many of you currently have an older iPhone and you plan on upgrading to the iPhone 3G but what do you do with your old iPhone? So how do you smoothly move from the original iPhone 2G to the new iPhone 3G and keep all of your current information, songs, and files? It is actually a very easy process to push your original iPhone info over to the new iPhone 3G. iTunes will allow you to do this and on July 11th when and if you pick up your new iPhone 3G you can use the backup of your old iPhone and push that information over to the new iPhone 3G. All of your passwords, SMS messages, email accounts, contacts, photos and other personal settings will all be transferred over with ease. Here are a few steps that will allow you do this once you get your hands on your new iPhone 3G. Connect your original iPhone to iTunes and sync it. You must verify that you have backed up your original iPhone to iTunes. Disconnect your original iPhone and connect your new iPhone 3G to iTunes. iTunes will now ask you if you want to restore from a backup or set up the iPhone 3G as a totally new phone. You will want to select the option to restore from a backup option. Now, the $199 or $299 dollar question is what do you do with your old first generation iPhone? AT T has confirmed that owners of first generation iPhones that have upgraded to the new iPhone 3G will be able to deactivate their original iPhone and use it as basically an iPod touch.

Apple iPhone vs. BlackBerry Bold 9000

iPhone vs. BlackBerry Bold 9000 So which phone is king of the hill? I have not had a chance to get my hands on a new BlackBerry Bold 9000 but I have seen one in action when I was in Irving, TX. An employee from Research In Motion of Irving, TX was at a local starbucks and had what looked a like a demo model of the new BlackBerry Bold 9000. It was interesting for him to have this device in a briefcase with stickers on it. I don’t know if it was a test model of the BlackBerry Bold 9000 or if it was his personal device. He never did use the phone only pulled it out once and placed it back in the briefcase. How interesting for me to witness this, too bad I could not get a clear angle with my iPhone camera. I am pretty sure it was a BlackBerry Bold and not the BlackBerry Curve. Now onto the battle of the iPhone versus the BlackBerry Bold 9000. more...
This is a follow up the images from iPod Observer of the new 3G iPhone. We discovered that it is most certainly a 3rd party iPhone case. It is not the image of the new 3G iPhone. The guys at macrumors brought this to everyone’s attention. Too bad so sad. We WILL get photos of the new 3G iPhone… once old Stevie boy Jobs pulls it out of his jean pocket. The guys at ilounge.com have a very interesting entry going on for submitting images of what you think the new 3G iPhone will look like.
To Shuffle or not to Shuffle?

Both the iPod and iTunes can shuffle your music, choose Shuffle Songs on the iPod and it will randomly source your playlist, you can also use the iTunes’ Shuffle option or Party Shuffle feature for casual home listening at random. If you prefer using the shuffle feature, there are some tracks you definitely don’t want randomly playing in the middle of a listening session or things like spoken word tracks, but also perhaps certain types of music that would not enhance the mood you are trying to create. Most classical music does not lend itself to listening this way; do you really want to hear a random movement of Ludwig van Beethoven after a Beatles song? You can prevent certain kinds of tracks from popping up by setting the Skip feature When Shuffling tag. Select Skip When Shuffling in the Options tab of the Info window for single tracks, or select Yes from the Skip When Shuffling menu in the Multiple Item Information window. This keeps iTunes or the iPod from playing certain tracks when they’re doing a full shuffle, but it also has other effects. Tracks with this tag won’t play in any of the playlist you’ve set to shuffle. They also won’t load on an iPod shuffle with Autofill (though you can add them manually). To listen to these tracks on an iPod shuffle, you need to set the device to play them in order; otherwise, none of them will play on the iPod shuffle.

3G iPhone will cost only $199! Let the Rumors Begin!

Today’s 3G iPhone rumor stands as one that may actually come to light. AT T will be the ones to actually turn the light on with this new rumor to make it true. We all know the current iPhone is relatively “expensive” at $499 and $599. Do you realize that you can purchase cell phones from AT T with a 2 year contract for a bit less than ones with a 1 year contract or even cell phones where there is no contract (out-right purchase). Well, with the iPhone we are all stuck with the same prices regardless of contract length. Now, if this rumor holds to be true, you can purchase the new 3G iPhone for $199 with a 2-year contract from AT T. Of course doing this AT T will take an initial hit of around $200 per iPhone sold. It is not a bad idea… this would truly spark another record sale of iPhones here in America. The only back-lash that I am thinking of is current iPhone users will be stuck with the old device to sell or use as a paper weight after they found out that you can only sell the old iPhone for about $100 or less. Seems un-real right now but lets just all wait and see what happens.

New 3G iPhone Reports: 3G iPhone to be smaller and lighter?

Today we have several reports that the new 3G iPhone will be smaller and lighter than the existing model. What gives? “Who do ya trust, huba huba huba, ME?... yesterday I posted that the 3G iPhone will be slightly thicker and have a glossy black backing. (iphone/3g-iphone-rumored-to-be-only-slightly-thicker-and-have-glossy-black-2.html) We found some interesting articles from online sources about the new 3G iPhone. One at Economic News said that the LCD screen on the phone measures 2.8 inches diagonally, a downsize from first generation`s 3.5 inches. Wow, will the 3G iPhone be a new Apple iPhone nano? 2.8 inches down from 3.5 inches, that is a bit smaller don’t you think? We know Apple is known for being revolutionary with making the thinnest laptop among other items, but a smaller screen on the iPhone? Will that fly? We really do not know who to believe at this point and it may be best to wait until Steve Jobs goes on stage with some tight jeans on and slips out the new 3G iPhone out of his rear jean pocket… YEA, that will do the trick. Check back here on iPod-Addicts.com for the latest updates as they happen. We want to hear from you… Post your comments what you think the new 3G iPhone will “BE LIKE”!

3G iPhone rumored to be only slightly thicker and have glossy black back.

Recent reports have confirmed the new 3G iPhone to be a tad bit thicker than the current iPhone and it will sport and new glossy black backing as shown in the posted here. [image source: iPod Observer]The new 3G iPhone is expected to be shipped sometime in July of this year (2008). Some have said June 9th will be an “official” date for launching the new 3G iPhone right on time for the release of the iPhone apps via iTunes via the developers’ SDK programs. The new 3G iPhone should have a built-in GPS receiver that may add to the bulk of the new iPhone vs. the current. Either way the 3G iPhone will be the sleekest and sexiest phone around once again. If you are in the market for a new “smart/pda phone” then I would highly suggest you waiting for the release of the new 3G iPhone. This give you time to save your money because we are sure it will be upwards of the $500 to $600 range.

Sega’s Super Monkey Ball game for iPhone and iPod touch – Developer Video

So the new iPhone and iPod touch games are on their way to make it to the iTunes App Store in June of this year. Sega shows off the new Super Monkey Ball game for iPhone and iPod touch. It uses the built in accelerometer in the iPhone and iPod touch so users will simply rotate the iPhone or iPod touch in their hand to maneuver the ball on the game. This is pretty darn neat and I am looking forward to seeing more games like this come out for the iPhone and iPod touch. I am not sure if this will prompt more sales… on second thought, it just may. Will we see a replacement for the Nintendo DS or Sony PSP? HMMM… maybe Apple has some more stuff up their sleeves… let’s see your hands Steve Jobs! Enjoy the Video!

iPod Nano emits sparks

Just like in our post a few months ago about the iPod nano catching fire (ipod-nano/the-ipod-nano-is-on-fire-literally-ipod-nano-catches-on-2.html)... well it seems it is still happening. This is getting ridiculous and may lead to some serious lawsuits if it continues and if it actually hurts someone God forbid. It seems the iPod nano has reports of emitting sparks when charging. No one has said anything from Apple but this continues to be something that is being investigated by certain people. I know I plan on monitoring our iPod nano that we use for testing. I will be the first one to post up something if I see sparks. I have my lawyers number handy just in case. HA HA Quote from Reuters: One of Apple's popular iPod Nano media players gave off sparks while being recharged in Japan in January, the country's trade ministry said, prompting a safety investigation. No one was hurt in the incident and Apple is investigating the cause and checking whether there have been any similar cases, an official from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said Wednesday. The incident, involving an earlier model sold in Japan, the MA099J/A, occurred on January 8 near Tokyo, the official said. Apple reported the matter to the ministry on Friday. Apple sold about 420,000 units a year of that Nano model in Japan starting in September 2005, the ministry said. Apple officials in Japan were not immediately available for comment.
iPhone software is on its way! iPhone SDK AWAY!

iPhone software is on its way! iPhone SDK AWAY! iPhone software is on its way! iPhone SDK AWAY! The big news is march 6th’s Event of the SDK release and the roadmap to software for the iPhone. When we say software for the iPhone we are not talking about DVD to iPod software, we are talking about no more hacking your iPhone to install applications, real applications to RUN on the iPhone. This is the HOT NEWS from Apple to hit the street here lately and we are here to capitalize on the developments as they happen. You can download the presentation (Steve Jobs) from March 6th talking about the SDK and what to look forward too for the iPhone. View the keynote at this address: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/keynote/ On March 6, Apple CEO Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone software roadmap, released the iPhone Software Development Kit, and introduced the iPhone Enterprise Beta Program. PCWorld has a great iPhone Software FAQ to answer all of your iPhone software questions. Some of the more popular iPhone Software FAQ’s here from PCWorld.com: Source: http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,143223/article.html What kind of programs can we expect to see? That will all depend on the ideas floating around in the heads of developers. But during the event, five companies showed off what they were able to put together with two weeks of engineering work and very few people involved. There were games from Electronic Arts (Spore) and Sega (Super Money Ball), an AIM client from AOL, medical software from Epocrates, and business software from Salesforce.com. The programs took advantage of the iPhone's built-in accelerometer, Multi-Touch capabilities, interface elements, and more. If you can imagine it, chances are someone will try to build it. What if you've synced your phone on one computer and then restore it on another? Do you lose your apps until you sync to the original? We assume that iPhone apps will work like Ringtones: You can choose to sync all of them back and forth with iTunes, or selectively choose which ones appear on your phone and which are merely stored back on your computer. If I buy a program for my iPhone, can I also transfer it to my significant other's iPhone? Probably not. Our guess is that each App Store program will be tied specifically to your Apple ID. It's possible you'll be free to copy it to multiple iPhones, but more likely you'll only be able to use it on a single device at a time. (We don't know what this means when it comes to site licenses or volume discounts for software, either.) Can I download programs off the Web, or any place other than the App Store and iTunes? Nope. With the exception of large businesses, the only place to get iPhone software will be via the App Store program on the iPhone or via the App Store area on iTunes.

$150 mp3 players vs. iPod nano 4GB - mini review

iPod nano 4GB vs. other Mp3 players - Our mini reviewIt’s 2008 and we have the iPod nano 3rd generation that plays video like its bigger brothers but is it the best? How does the iPod nano 4gb version stack up against other mp3 players in the same price range? We played with a few other popular mp3 players in the $150 dollar price range listed here: Creative Zen V Plus 4gb Black iRiver Clix 4GB second generation Samsung YP-T9 4GB Black SanDisk Sansa e260R Rhapsody 4GB Microsoft Zune 4GB second generation multiple colors Apple iPod nano 4GB third generation We would like to start off by listing each in our “favorite” order starting with the Apple iPod nano. Because this is an iPod/iPhone based site it is obvious that we are partial to any Apple iPod products. But this time we want to put it on a level playing field with the other comparable mp3 players.

iPod shuffle 1GB price is now down to $49 and the new 2GB shuffle is $69

Apple has dropped the price of the iPod shuffle recently to $49 for the 1GB version and they now have a $69 2GB version. The newer 2GB version comes in the same colors as the previous 1GB. While the 2GB provides more space for music lovers to cherish, the small compact size of the still yet competitive iPod shuffle remains to be a big hit among those looking to save a few bucks. This is “BIG NEWS FOR SOMETHING SMALL” – Apple.com

iPhone data usage tops all other PDA based cell phones.

iPhone tops data usage! Recently it was discovered from the data collected by AT T and Google that the iPhone data usage is about 50 times higher than any other mobile handset. This is a big plus for supporters of the iPhone, we will look for more “stuff” to come in the iPhone world. The number of mobile searches could outpace fixed internet search “within the next several years” according to Financial Times Vic Gundorta. Apple does not mess around when it comes to internet searching and using the iPhone as a portable web surfing device. It is ranked one of the best if not the best internet device in the form of a cell phone ever. Apple just makes it so easy to do a search as the Google search function is built into the browser next to the URL field. Who uses URL fields anymore… I know when I need to find something the only thing I enter in the URL is www.google.com. So where is the new 3G iPhone. We should see something this year hopefully only to make the iPhone surfing experience even better. Could you image the stats on the internet usage on iPhones once a 3G model is released, I know I cannot wait.

iPhone and iPod touch SDK programs/software on iTunes

Apple iPhone and iPod touch applications available on iTunes soon. With the upcoming release of the Software Development Kit (SDK) for iPhone and iPod touch their will be many available applications online for the iPhone and iPod touch. You will no longer need to hack or jailbreak your iPhone or iPod touch, you can simply purchase or download your favorite app and install it with no hassles. This is going to open up the iPhone and iPod touch to new levels giving the iPhone and iPod touch new capabilities never imagined by some. Will this make the iPhone a better competitor or a direct competitor for the Windows based PDA phones and Blackberry type phones? You bet your butt it will! The SDK will become available later this month (February 2008) for the iPhone and iPod touch. Apple has plans on selling the new developed software on iTunes store. Looks like MORE money for Apple as if they need anymore. I am sure it will be several “WAREZ” sources online for the iPhone and iPod touch software. Here at iPod-Addicts we will have our own download section for the newly developed software integrated in with our current iDownloads section (idownloads.html). Come back later this month for updates and go ahead and register on our NEW Free Forum (forum) and start up a discussion. I may give FREE gifts to the first 100 members of our new iPod-Addicts Forum.
