The iPod nano is on FIRE – Literally – iPod nano catches on fire
Just yesterday an employee of the Hartsfield Atlanta Airport’s iPod nano caught on fire while in his pants pocket. Luckily the owner of this iPod nano is okay and although this seems to be an isolated incident there have been a few other reports of an iPod nanos catching fire. Though the iPod nano uses the same form of batteries used in thousands of other electronic devices such as laptops, it uses the same type of battery technology. Although it is not confirmed of any dangers of other iPods as they all share the type of battery. Any electronic device with such batteries has a potential for unwanted damages especially if damaged or tampered with. We do not know the full details of what the initial cause of this incident and from reports after the fact it remains that iPods are still “safe” devices.
