Fake iPod nano and shuffle I recently rode with my buddy to the local flea market; he just had to take me there to purchase a phone case for his daughter of all things. During our visit I decided to get out of the car and walk through the flea market. To my surprise it was a kid selling iPods. I was not shocked at this point; I just thought it was a kid selling used iPod nanos and iPod shuffles. I picked up one of the iPod shuffles and took a look at it and the USB cover fell off without pulling it off. I was saying in the back of my head, oh, this iPod shuffle was abused – I thought nothing of it and looked at the other items his booth had to offer. I came across about 15 iPod nanos for sale at one booth. I then proceeded to pick up one outside of the box and to my surprise it had a “vol” printed where the play button is normally positioned at the bottom of the scroll/touch wheel. I could not hold back, my mouth blurted out “what the hell is this” before I knew it. They kid said “what’s wrong, do you want to buy one”. I said “hell no, this is not an iPod nano, what is this?” The kid said “Do you want one or not, I am closing my booth, going to lunch”. At this point I am laughing hysterically in this kids face telling him “you’re selling fake iPods, what the heck” To make this long story short I asked my buddy if I could report this kid and he said he does not think so, he has a right to sell these items. I left before I could look at the other markings of the fake iPod to see where it was made. The screen didn’t even look like the iPod’s interface. 
I had to share this with my users. I honestly thought the fake iPods disappeared. I won’t disclose the location of the flea market because this kid looked pretty young and I am sure if this is illegal he will get caught sooner or later. Yes, I saw some that are on www.ubid.com ... funny though... i thought ubid.com was a good company until i saw the fake ipods and such that they sell. They call them MP4 players instead of iPods so they don't get in trouble. Interesting. Check it out... http://www.ubid.com you will see them listed!

fake iPods keep the market at decent prices. And that includes both true "fake" as well as copies by the competition.
PS: if it doesn't have a fake part number it's not counterfit, it's just either breach of contract or © violation

Hey i recently got an ipod and its fake. i thought it was real because i had boughen it in a mall but i was wrong. The guy selling these said he sells at least ten every day. The place place is Gertz Plaza Mall in Jamaaica ave. Now what'll i do with my fake ipod, it doesnt even use itunes.

I bought one of these fake Ipods on ebay because I thought it was the real thing and the seller had the screen turned of so that I couldnt see the picture. If any of you know how to report this to ebay the seller's name was hitechmarket88. There are also fake Iphones but on they back of it, it says HiPhone instead of IPhone.

LOL those are actually not fake,theres a company that is legally allowed to produce and Sell them,Theyre actually not that bad.Look,Id buy the iPhone ovcorse but for someone who hasnt got that amount of cash on them i would go for it and buy one.Still just love my iPhone 3G.

i was sold one on ebay and it doesnt work with iyunes we looked on the internet and compared it with my friends gebuine ipod and it is definately fake but we tried to email the seller and they have deleted their email so we cant contact them we paid alot of money for it and it isnt real

i just bought what i thought was a 4th gen. nano but to my surprise the guy has taken what seems to be the body of an ipod and put shitty software in it so that ppl buy his stuff thinking that it is an ipod for a diecent price but in all actuality he is a cheap son of a bitch who loves to fuck ppl out of their money and has no common curtousey. he is an asshole who needs his balls chopped off and fed to him with a fucking spoon while his fake ipods are playing in the background that dont even work as good as a $20 mp3 player from walmart. so whatever you do, do not buy any sort of mp3 player off of shbray on ebay unless u want to buy womens personal items then you can shove them up his ass.

I also just got duped buying an iPod from ioffer.com, there are MANY fakes on this site. It's the biggest piece of crap and they try and tell you they are real. They don't have any of the proper features. The seller disappeared upon requesting a refund.

i think that its bullshit that people can get away with this. i recently purchased an ipod off ebay that said it was brand new that looked exactly like the regular ones. and when it got to my house i realized that some asshole sold me some piece o shit knockoff 4g. i paid 100 bucks for a piece of worthless techno crap!

I've seen a boatload of these in the Philippines and Im pretty sure that's where you (the poster) saw these or at least it can from China, I know it kinda ruins the image of the iPod cause Im one of the few people in my town in the Pi who has a real iPod and most people think Im the one who has the fake! It's outrageous!

I am reading all of these comments and it's kinda funny. I myself have owned a knockoff ipod, I paid $30, and it was fine for what I paid. I have seen tons of these knockoffs, and not ONCE has anyone tried to pass it off as a real ipod. If you guys read the ebay ads or ubid ads carefully, none are claiming that the product is real. It is titled as an mp4 player because that is all it is: an mp4 player. The reason the software isn't as good as ipod's is because the price is considerably less.
This I assumed was common sense, apparently not. It is perfectly legal to sell mp4 players. Should we sue Microsoft for making the Zune? seriously, you get what you pay for.

I went to a small stall recently who sells fake ipods here at Cavite. I am actualy deciding on either getting a fake or buying the real one. The seller turned on the fake one and guess what it malfunctioned on the spot. hehehe. So now my minds is made up on getting the real one. The only thing that made me consider the fake one is itunes. Not all computers has it installed and if I will ask a vendor to install mp3's likely he doesn't have itunes on his computer. So my option will be limited. And I'll be using my computer only luckily I have an iBook which is a perfect match. hehe. But the advantage of getting the real one is when it states 1 GB (shuffle) or 8 GB (Nano) the size is acurate. With the fake ones you can never be sure of the size. :-(
