Cucusoft DVD to iPod Converter Review

We recently reviewed the Cucusoft DVD to iPod Converter Program. We found that this is a worthy and must-have component to any new video iPod. If you have any type of video iPod from the 5th generation Video iPod to the new iPod touch or iPhone then you can utilize this type of program for your PC to rip a full DVD movie and transfer it to your iPod for playback. The Cucusoft DVD to iPod Converter program was able to rip the Oceans 11 DVD movie (English standard version) well under 50 minutes. That is a decent time savings when compared to other comparable DVD to iPod Converter programs.

We began our test by highlighting a few different points. Video quality, audio quality, visual appeal, and ease of use. Our video output file after the test was complete was on par for any iTunes movie download.

The video was clear, sharp, and had no signs of degraded quality when watching fast motion scenes.

The audio was clear and in full stereo sound after listening to the Mp4 file via our iPhone’s OEM ear buds. The audio was well in sync with every action on the video sequence. This was a major problem when we tried ripping a DVD manually without the assistance of a DVD to iPod converter program. This is a long and not-so-fun process. If you know how to do it and have done it before you probably understand what we had to go through.

The visual appeal of the output Mp4 file when played on any video iPod remained to be good but we did notice some issues when the movie is played back on a TV screen from your iPod. The Mp4 file must be atleast 640x480 in resolution on your iPod before we recommend you playing the movie back on a TV screen. A new HD TV can really show shame on a 320x240 resolution MP4 playback from an iPod or iPhone. Take our word on this one! With the extra settings on the Cucusoft DVD to iPod Converter program we had no problem with converting to the full 640x480 size output.

The Cucusoft DVD to iPod Converter program is generally and easy program to use. Although it is not as simple as the front end menu will suggest when you really get deep into the converter settings. Overall it has a good graphical user interface for novice users and advanced users. Advanced users have the option of fine tuning any DVD rip conversion for the optimal setting.

In conclusion we give the Cucusoft DVD to iPod Converter program a strong 8 out of 10.

Check our other reviews of other DVD to iPod Converters to come for comparisons.

I bought the cucusoft converter software when I bought my new I-POD. I was very excited and all ready to convert some of my DVD\'s. When I ran the software I kept getting an error telling me I was missing the DVD decoder and needed to download the codec all in one. After doing this I still could not get the software to work. I have a new laptop with top of the line software and could not figure out why I was having problems. I contacted Tech Support with Cucusoft with 3 seperate e-mails requesting help but the only response was the auto generated replay saying they had recieved my e-mail, they never responded. After 8 days of agony I went on their website and downloaded everything they had, including the trial version and finally got the software to work. I have loaded several movies now and am happy with the quality. The program might be nice but the tech support is non existent. :(

Wow, so sorry that Cucusoft's service was not helpful in the begining! I have never had a problem with them. I am glad it all worked out for you and that you love the program. I use the program offten to rip my DVD's. I have a big DVD library so When I fly out I have no problem finding a new movie to put on my iPhone. Good luck with the program! Thanks for posting a comment!

***Rachel***
You have to get the Full Version of the Cucu software to make the Trial Version in the middle of your screen to disapear and when you get the software make sure you search for updates before doing anything with the software that is all.

I have Cucusoft and my problem with conveerting DVD into a MP4 for my Ipod classic is that the sound is a second to late, like if a person would knock on a door you will hear the knocking sound 1 second later or a half second later...

Can someone please help me with this problem please reply

It is usually your PC that is the issue with the sound being off. That happend to me once when I needed to reboot from running several programs that day. Try rebooting and then run the cucusoft program first before opening anything else. Remember, dvd ripping is very intensive on yoru system with any program... best to let it rip without messing with the PC. Let me know how that works for you!

Hello Morgan,

Yes, this works perfectly with the 3rd generation 8gb iPod nano if that is the one you are refurring too. We tested using several iPod including the 3rd generation 4gb iPod nano which is the same as the 8gb 3rd gen only the 8gb has more storage space.

Hope this helps!

I have the program and was trying to convert a dvd movie to ipod. It converts the first \"chapter\" and then stops. Is there any way to convert the entire movie without doing each individual chapter? any help would be appreciated. I have emailed cucsoft but so far no response...
