How to Reset the following iPod's:

-iPod Classic - 3rd, 4th and 5th Generation (aka iPod with video)

-iPod nano (1st, 2nd and 3rd Generation - aka iPod nano photo)

-iPod mini (1st and 2nd Generation)

If you ever find that your iPod has frozen, stopped responding, or is starting to run a little slow, you can follow these simple steps to reset your iPod. Resetting your iPod does will not delete or change any data or user settings, it is simply “rebooting” the device just like you reboot a PC. Your iPod’s ram is constantly filled whether it is on in use or off and after some time it may start to slow down the response of buttons and the scroll wheel. If your iPod was “damaged” this may not work for you as you will need to consult an Apple repair technician. Resetting your iPod will resolve 90% of the common issues people run into with daily use of your iPod.

Steps to reset your iPod:

  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears (about 6 to 10 seconds).
  3. You will see the Apple Logo appear and your iPod will come to life with a lit screen. If this does not happen please within 2 mintues please repeat steps 1 and 2.
