If you ever find that your iPod has frozen, stopped responding, or is starting to run a little slow, you can follow these simple steps to reset your iPod. Resetting your iPod does will not delete or change any data or user settings, it is simply “rebooting” the device just like you reboot a PC. Your iPod’s ram is constantly filled whether it is on in use or off and after some time it may start to slow down the response of buttons and the scroll wheel. If your iPod was “damaged” this may not work for you as you will need to consult an Apple repair technician. Resetting your iPod will resolve 90% of the common issues people run into with daily use of your iPod.
Steps to reset your iPod:
Toggle the Hold switch on and off
Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears (about 6 to 10 seconds).
You will see the Apple Logo appear and your iPod will come to life with a lit screen. If this does not happen please within 2 mintues please repeat steps 1 and 2.

To turn on
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
To turn completely off
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. When iPhone is off, incoming calls go straight to voicemail.
To reset
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
