Viruses on the iPhone?

iphone trojanRecently the first iPhone Trojan was reported. This instance was later found out to be more of a prank than a legitimate threat. The Trojan was reported just this Saturday but poses no immediate threat to current iPhone users. The idea that a Trojan was created specifically for the iPhone brings the question and thoughts of guarding yourself against any future attacks. The sites that exploited this so called Trojan were all taken down.

Here is a tidbit from News.com:

However, the Trojan also overwrites several legitimate applications, including Erica’s Utilities, Launcher, Doom, and OpenSSH, meaning that if you uninstall the Trojan, you will need to reinstall these applications later. This appears to be a consequence of poor programming.

The risk to iPhone users is now considered negligible since the host sites have all been taken down.

So will Apple offer an anti-virus and anti-spyware program for everyone’s iPhone this year? HA, I’m sure it may come to that if the iPhone is eventually opened up by Apple to 3rd party apps and not just web-apps.
