3G iPhone will cost only $199! Let the Rumors Begin! E-mail
iPhone

Today’s 3G iPhone rumor stands as one that may actually come to light. AT&T will be the ones to actually turn the light on with this new rumor to make it true. We all know the current iPhone is relatively “expensive” at $499 and $599. Do you realize that you can purchase cell phones from AT&T with a 2 year contract for a bit less than ones with a 1 year contract or even cell phones where there is no contract (out-right purchase). Well, with the iPhone we are all stuck with the same prices regardless of contract length.

Now, if this rumor holds to be true, you can purchase the new 3G iPhone for $199 with a 2-year contract from AT&T. Of course doing this AT&T will take an initial hit of around $200 per iPhone sold. It is not a bad idea… this would truly spark another record sale of iPhones here in America. The only back-lash that I am thinking of is current iPhone users will be stuck with the old device to sell or use as a paper weight after they found out that you can only sell the old iPhone for about $100 or less. Seems un-real right now but lets just all wait and see what happens.

New 3G iPhone Reports: 3G iPhone to be smaller and lighter? E-mail

Small iPhone

Today we have several reports that the new 3G iPhone will be smaller and lighter than the existing model. What gives? “Who do ya trust, huba huba huba, ME?... yesterday I posted that the 3G iPhone will be slightly thicker and have a glossy black backing.

We found some interesting articles from online sources about the new 3G iPhone. One at Economic News said that the "LCD screen on the phone measures 2.8 inches diagonally, a downsize from first generation`s 3.5 inches." Wow, will the 3G iPhone be a new Apple iPhone nano? 2.8 inches down from 3.5 inches, that is a bit smaller don’t you think? We know Apple is known for being revolutionary with making the thinnest laptop among other items, but a smaller screen on the iPhone? Will that fly?

We really do not know who to believe at this point and it may be best to wait until Steve Jobs goes on stage with some tight jeans on and slips out the new 3G iPhone out of his rear jean pocket… YEA, that will do the trick.

Check back here on iPod-Addicts.com for the latest updates as they happen.

We want to hear from you… Post your comments what you think the new 3G iPhone will “BE LIKE”!

Recent reports have confirmed the new 3G iPhone to be a tad bit thicker than the current iPhone and it will sport and new glossy black backing as shown in the posted here.

The new 3G iPhone is expected to be shipped sometime in July of this year (2008). Some have said June 9th will be an “official” date for launching the new 3G iPhone right on time for the release of the iPhone apps via iTunes via the developers’ SDK programs. The new 3G iPhone should have a built-in GPS receiver that may add to the bulk of the new iPhone vs. the current. Either way the 3G iPhone will be the sleekest and sexiest phone around once again.

If you are in the market for a new “smart/pda phone” then I would highly suggest you waiting for the release of the new 3G iPhone. This give you time to save your money because we are sure it will be upwards of the $500 to $600 range.

I Remember the old iPod silhouette ads, they are several years old now and now Apple has brought them back… WOOT WOOT!!!

Apple brought back the famous silhouette ads for the iPod. They will be airing them on TV stations to appeal the large market of the Apple iPod. The video is on the iTunes site at http://www.apple.com/itunes. The link is located in the “Featured on iTunes” area on the page a little more than half way down in the middle. Feel free to view the YouTube video of the new ad above. Enjoy! The song found in this video is "Shut Up and Let Me Go" by the UK band Ting Tings.

This song can be downloaded on iTunes. The UK band has it’s own myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/thetingtings.

Sega’s Super Monkey Ball game for iPhone and iPod touch – Developer Video E-mail

So the new iPhone and iPod touch games are on their way to make it to the iTunes App Store in June of this year. Sega shows off the new Super Monkey Ball game for iPhone and iPod touch. It uses the built in accelerometer in the iPhone and iPod touch so users will simply rotate the iPhone or iPod touch in their hand to maneuver the ball on the game. This is pretty darn neat and I am looking forward to seeing more games like this come out for the iPhone and iPod touch. I am not sure if this will prompt more sales… on second thought, it just may. Will we see a replacement for the Nintendo DS or Sony PSP? HMMM… maybe Apple has some more stuff up their sleeves… let’s see your hands Steve Jobs!

Enjoy the Video!

iPod Nano emits sparks E-mail

ipod-nano-spark

Just like in our post a few months ago about the iPod nano catching fire... well it seems it is still happening. This is getting ridiculous and may lead to some serious lawsuits if it continues and if it actually "hurts" someone God forbid. It seems the iPod nano has reports of emitting sparks when charging. No one has said anything from Apple but this continues to be something that is being investigated by certain people. I know I plan on monitoring our iPod nano that we use for testing. I will be the first one to post up something if I see sparks. I have my lawyers number handy just in case. HA HA

Quote from Reuters:

One of Apple's popular iPod Nano media players gave off sparks while being recharged in Japan in January, the country's trade ministry said, prompting a safety investigation. No one was hurt in the incident and Apple is investigating the cause and checking whether there have been any similar cases, an official from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said Wednesday.

The incident, involving an earlier model sold in Japan, the MA099J/A, occurred on January 8 near Tokyo, the official said. Apple reported the matter to the ministry on Friday. Apple sold about 420,000 units a year of that Nano model in Japan starting in September 2005, the ministry said. Apple officials in Japan were not immediately available for comment.

iPhone software is on its way! iPhone SDK AWAY! E-mail

iPhone software is on its way! iPhone SDK AWAY!

iPhone SDK

iPhone software is on its way! iPhone SDK AWAY!

The big news is march 6th’s Event of the SDK release and the roadmap to software for the iPhone. When we say software for the iPhone we are not talking about DVD to iPod software, we are talking about no more hacking your iPhone to install applications, real applications to RUN on the iPhone. This is the HOT NEWS from Apple to hit the street here lately and we are here to capitalize on the developments as they happen.

You can download the presentation (Steve Jobs) from March 6th talking about the SDK and what to look forward too for the iPhone.

View the keynote at this address: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/keynote/

On March 6, Apple CEO Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone software roadmap, released the iPhone Software Development Kit, and introduced the iPhone Enterprise Beta Program.

PCWorld has a great iPhone Software FAQ to answer all of your iPhone software questions. Some of the more popular iPhone Software FAQ’s here from

What kind of programs can we expect to see?

That will all depend on the ideas floating around in the heads of developers. But during the event, five companies showed off what they were able to put together with two weeks of engineering work and very few people involved. There were games from Electronic Arts (Spore) and Sega (Super Money Ball), an AIM client from AOL, medical software from Epocrates, and business software from Salesforce.com. The programs took advantage of the iPhone's built-in accelerometer, Multi-Touch capabilities, interface elements, and more. If you can imagine it, chances are someone will try to build it.

What if you've synced your phone on one computer and then restore it on another? Do you lose your apps until you sync to the original?

We assume that iPhone apps will work like Ringtones: You can choose to sync all of them back and forth with iTunes, or selectively choose which ones appear on your phone and which are merely stored back on your computer.

If I buy a program for my iPhone, can I also transfer it to my significant other's iPhone?

Probably not. Our guess is that each App Store program will be tied specifically to your Apple ID. It's possible you'll be free to copy it to multiple iPhones, but more likely you'll only be able to use it on a single device at a time. (We don't know what this means when it comes to site licenses or volume discounts for software, either.)

Can I download programs off the Web, or any place other than the App Store and iTunes?

Nope. With the exception of large businesses, the only place to get iPhone software will be via the App Store program on the iPhone or via the App Store area on iTunes.
