ipod-nano-spark

Just like in our post a few months ago about the iPod nano catching fire... well it seems it is still happening. This is getting ridiculous and may lead to some serious lawsuits if it continues and if it actually "hurts" someone God forbid. It seems the iPod nano has reports of emitting sparks when charging. No one has said anything from Apple but this continues to be something that is being investigated by certain people. I know I plan on monitoring our iPod nano that we use for testing. I will be the first one to post up something if I see sparks. I have my lawyers number handy just in case. HA HA

Quote from Reuters:

One of Apple's popular iPod Nano media players gave off sparks while being recharged in Japan in January, the country's trade ministry said, prompting a safety investigation. No one was hurt in the incident and Apple is investigating the cause and checking whether there have been any similar cases, an official from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said Wednesday.

The incident, involving an earlier model sold in Japan, the MA099J/A, occurred on January 8 near Tokyo, the official said. Apple reported the matter to the ministry on Friday. Apple sold about 420,000 units a year of that Nano model in Japan starting in September 2005, the ministry said. Apple officials in Japan were not immediately available for comment.

iPhone software is on its way! iPhone SDK AWAY!

iPhone SDK

iPhone software is on its way! iPhone SDK AWAY!

The big news is march 6th’s Event of the SDK release and the roadmap to software for the iPhone. When we say software for the iPhone we are not talking about DVD to iPod software, we are talking about no more hacking your iPhone to install applications, real applications to RUN on the iPhone. This is the HOT NEWS from Apple to hit the street here lately and we are here to capitalize on the developments as they happen.

You can download the presentation (Steve Jobs) from March 6th talking about the SDK and what to look forward too for the iPhone.

View the keynote at this address: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/keynote/

On March 6, Apple CEO Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone software roadmap, released the iPhone Software Development Kit, and introduced the iPhone Enterprise Beta Program.

PCWorld has a great iPhone Software FAQ to answer all of your iPhone software questions. Some of the more popular iPhone Software FAQ’s here from

What kind of programs can we expect to see?

That will all depend on the ideas floating around in the heads of developers. But during the event, five companies showed off what they were able to put together with two weeks of engineering work and very few people involved. There were games from Electronic Arts (Spore) and Sega (Super Money Ball), an AIM client from AOL, medical software from Epocrates, and business software from Salesforce.com. The programs took advantage of the iPhone's built-in accelerometer, Multi-Touch capabilities, interface elements, and more. If you can imagine it, chances are someone will try to build it.

What if you've synced your phone on one computer and then restore it on another? Do you lose your apps until you sync to the original?

We assume that iPhone apps will work like Ringtones: You can choose to sync all of them back and forth with iTunes, or selectively choose which ones appear on your phone and which are merely stored back on your computer.

If I buy a program for my iPhone, can I also transfer it to my significant other's iPhone?

Probably not. Our guess is that each App Store program will be tied specifically to your Apple ID. It's possible you'll be free to copy it to multiple iPhones, but more likely you'll only be able to use it on a single device at a time. (We don't know what this means when it comes to site licenses or volume discounts for software, either.)

Can I download programs off the Web, or any place other than the App Store and iTunes?

Nope. With the exception of large businesses, the only place to get iPhone software will be via the App Store program on the iPhone or via the App Store area on iTunes.

iPod nano 4GB vs. other Mp3 players - Our mini review

Mp3 Players for $150 vs. iPod nano 4GB

It’s 2008 and we have the iPod nano 3rd generation that plays video like its bigger brothers but is it the best? How does the iPod nano 4gb version stack up against other mp3 players in the same price range? We played with a few other popular mp3 players in the $150 dollar price range listed here:

  • Creative Zen V Plus 4gb Black
  • iRiver Clix 4GB second generation
  • Samsung YP-T9 4GB Black
  • SanDisk Sansa e260R Rhapsody 4GB
  • Microsoft Zune 4GB second generation multiple colors
  • Apple iPod nano 4GB third generation

We would like to start off by listing each in our “favorite” order starting with the Apple iPod nano. Because this is an iPod/iPhone based site it is obvious that we are partial to any Apple iPod products. But this time we want to put it on a level playing field with the other comparable mp3 players.

iPod shuffle 1GB and NEW 2GB

Apple has dropped the price of the iPod shuffle recently to $49 for the 1GB version and they now have a $69 2GB version. The newer 2GB version comes in the same colors as the previous 1GB. While the 2GB provides more space for music lovers to cherish, the small compact size of the still yet competitive iPod shuffle remains to be a big hit among those looking to save a few bucks.

iPhone data usage tops all other PDA based cell phones. E-mail

Google on iPhone

iPhone tops data usage!

Recently it was discovered from the data collected by AT&T and Google that the iPhone data usage is about 50 times higher than any other mobile handset. This is a big plus for supporters of the iPhone, we will look for more “stuff” to come in the iPhone world. The number of mobile searches could outpace fixed internet search “within the next several years” according to Financial Times Vic Gundorta.

Apple does not mess around when it comes to internet searching and using the iPhone as a portable web surfing device. It is ranked one of the best if not the best internet device in the form of a cell phone ever. Apple just makes it so easy to do a search as the Google search function is built into the browser next to the URL field. Who uses URL fields anymore… I know when I need to find something the only thing I enter in the URL is www.google.com.

So where is the new 3G iPhone. We should see something this year hopefully only to make the iPhone surfing experience even better. Could you image the stats on the internet usage on iPhones once a 3G model is released, I know I cannot wait.
